We’re pleased to announce that the first patient has been dosed in Aplagon’s Phase 2a ‘HEALING’ clinical trial evaluating APAC in peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) leading to chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI).
This study marks an important clinical milestone for APAC, Aplagon’s first-in-class heparin proteoglycan mimetic designed to target thrombo-inflammatory processes at sites of vascular injury.
CLTI is a severe and life-threatening stage of PAOD, associated with high cardiovascular morbidity, mortality and amputation risk, and with no treatment currently available. Diabetes and smoking are the most common risk factors among this patient population.
With FIMEA approval secured and a successful Phase 1 programme completed, this Phase 2a trial marks an important step in advancing APAC to patients.
